A Case For Legal Aid

THERE'S an odd tone of emptiness at the core of the legal series 100 Centre Street, screening in repeat on the ABC. On the surface, it has a fairly standard set of narrative anchors, involving the life and times of Judge Joe Rifkind (Alan Arkin), whose liberalism has put him at odds with his political masters and, often, with friend and crusty fellow judge Attalah Sims (LaTanya Richardson).
